drippy castles, icecream and the crib

 Even though it was his weekend off, 
Kelly had to work on Saturday. 
Major Boo!
But Gigi, Granddaddy and I took Ella Rae to the 
beach that morning to make up for it.

 As you can see, the beach was practically empty! 
Ella Rae enjoyed having the freedom to roam around.

 
She also loved learning how to make drippy castles with Granddaddy. 

Stopping for a quick picture with mommy and new baby sister.


Later that night (after the Gamecocks won!!) 
we met at a cute new little ice cream shop
in the promenade for a special treat!
 
 Ella Rae got her very own mini ice cream cone!
She LOVED it!

 
Of course, she wanted more when she was finished
with her own cone so she snuck a lick of Gigi's haha!

And being that we are 26 weeks and counting 
I have felt the pressure to get the nursery ready! 
Here is a sneak peek of the crib. 
Thanks to my hubby for putting it together
on his only day off in 25 days!!

Today, November 17, is Prematurity Awareness Day! This cause is near and dear to my heart because our sweet Ella Rae was born 6 weeks premature. We were definitely on the upper side of the 'premature spectrum' so to speak, as many babies are born waaay earlier. We did, however, spend 14 days in the NICU after Ella's birth. It was a whirlwind to say the least. Did you know that 1 out of 8 babies are born premature? And the amount of premature births has risen 30% since 1981. That means too many babies are coming early and too many parents have to endure the unknown of their child being born prematurely. Today is a day to fight for those babies and families.
